The second Stormwater Public meeting.

Thanks to the 100 odd locals who gave up a beautiful afternoon to attend the public meeting held on Saturday 19 January 2025.

A special thanks to Mayor Len Salt, Deputy Mayor Terry Walker, Councillor Gary Gotlieb, all three Councillors from Mercury Bay, John Grant, Rekha Giri-Percival and Deli Connell, and Thames Councillor Peter Revell. It is certainly special when Whangamata gets on the map like this and our Councillors meet with locals.

Minutes will be posted shortly. The meeting introduced a number of matters we’ll work through so we can provide a more definitive response to the flood letter and proposed start of works to alleviate flooding. Mayor Len Salt said council is making no changes until the Chief Executive is back. We are yet to hear what this may mean.
