Who are we?
Our primary objective is to represent the ratepayers and residents in Whangamata.
The committee voluntarily work on the community’s behalf and advocate to the relevant authorities to have our rates stay and be spent in Whangamata.
Mission statement
To help preserve, safeguard and promote the unique natural character and environment of Whangamata and enhance its social, cultural and economic wellbeing now and for generations to come.
Our aims
To monitor the development and maintenance of Whangamata infrastructure, amenities and services by the relevant authorities and advocate on matters of interest and concern, including making submissions and holding public meetings to protect your interests.
To make informed decisions on prioritizing what the Whangamata ratepayer and resident wants to spend their rates on.
How do we do that?
Work and advocate on behalf of the Whangamata ratepayers & resident’s interests with the
• Whangamata Community Board
• Thames Coromandel District Council (TCDC)
• Waikato Regional Council (WRC)
• Community Groups
What do we do?
Communicate with the ratepayers and residents through e-newsletters and our website to keep you up to date with community news and issues.
Hold public meetings and invite ratepayers and residents to discuss the issues of the day and what they would like to see their rates spent on.
If you are passionate about Whangamata and want your rates to be spent in Whangamata, be a voice and stay informed about local issues. Join our Whangamata Ratepayers Association.

• Help make sure our community and town continue to be strong.

Become a member by filling in this simple form, or if you need help email us at whangaratepayers@gmail.com. Membership costs $10 per year (per household), and helps us with the costs of runnings a volunteer organisation.
